Conceived in a back-office cube farm by Chad Schneider and Scott Kerns, Wired Kings Chess Club was created to promote tournament chess in the State of New Mexico.
We hold one chess tournament every month in various libraries in Albuquerque and Santa Fe. Our goal is to host these tournaments at a low cost with savings passed on to our players to improve and broaden New Mexico chess. Most of our players have been from New Mexico, but we have also attracted players from Colorado, Texas, Arizona, Oklahoma, Missouri, California, New York, North Carolina, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and Mexico.
We hope to offer a wide variety of player-centric chess tournaments that will incorporate all fans of chess. So far we have held or are planning to hold quads, octagons, match play, action chess, blitz chess, fisher random chess (Chess 960), and bughouse. Who knows what is next, chess boxing? Chess golf? Stayed tuned for more!
