The University of New Mexico chess team won the Division III (under 2000 team rating) award at the Pan Am games with a 3/6 team score. As the 18th seed, they finished 13th out of 28 teams, which is impressive given the caliber of the teams in the tournament. UNM's team was Silas Perry, Doug Thigpen, Lara Armas, and Dante Archuleta. Congratulations to the UNM chess team! Go Lobos!
